Terms of Service

These Terms of Service explain how Northbridge Computers provides access to our website, product catalog, custom build requests, support communications, and related services. Please read them carefully. They are designed to be practical and specific to how we work as a computer retailer and service desk in London.

Questions

1. Acceptance and eligibility

By accessing or using our website (including /catalog/, /custom-builds/, /financing/, /support/, and /faq/), you agree to these Terms of Service and any policies referenced here. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Minimum age: you must be at least 16 years old to submit forms on our site. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to place an order, enter a financing arrangement, or request services that require payment. If you are using the site on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that organisation to these terms.

2. Service description

Northbridge Computers provides: (a) product information about PCs, laptops, components, and related services; (b) the ability to request a custom build quote; (c) support contact channels for warranty questions, troubleshooting, and order assistance; and (d) general guidance materials in our FAQ. We are a retailer and service desk. We do not provide legal, accounting, or regulated financial advice.

The website is informational and request-based. Availability, pricing, lead times, and specifications can change. Where we provide estimated timelines, they are estimates based on current supplier information and service desk capacity. If we cannot meet a timeline due to supply constraints or other reasons, we will communicate alternatives.

3. Accounts and communications

Our site may allow you to submit requests without creating an account. If, in the future, we introduce accounts, you agree to provide accurate information and to keep it up to date. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access credentials and for activity conducted under them.

When you contact us through /support/ or /custom-builds/, we will respond using the email address or phone number you provide. You agree not to include sensitive personal data in free-text fields. If you request deletion of a support message, we will handle it in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable legal obligations.

4. Orders, pricing, and payment

Product listings and quotes are invitations to treat, not binding offers. A contract forms when we confirm your order in writing and accept payment or a confirmed financing authorisation (where applicable). We may refuse or cancel orders if we cannot verify details, if there is a clear pricing or specification error, or if supply is unavailable.

Pricing: prices are shown in the currency relevant to our operations and may change without notice. If a price changes after you submit a request but before we confirm an order, we will inform you and provide the option to proceed at the updated price or cancel the request. If we discover a genuine error in published pricing or specifications, we will correct it and contact affected customers.

Payment processing and financing: when you choose to pay using a third-party provider or apply for financing, the provider’s separate terms apply. We do not control those providers and do not receive your full payment card details where the provider handles them. Please review /financing/ for the process and typical information required.

5. Custom builds

Custom builds are assembled based on the requirements you provide and the parts selected in the final written quote. Because the component market changes quickly, we may propose functionally equivalent substitutions if a part becomes unavailable. We will not substitute core components that materially change the performance tier or compatibility without your approval.

Compatibility and expectations: we aim to validate the compatibility of parts we supply. If you provide your own components, you are responsible for verifying they are genuine, in working condition, and compatible. We may decline to install components that appear damaged, counterfeit, or unsafe. Performance depends on software configuration, drivers, and the applications you run. If you request a specific outcome, we will explain what the hardware is designed to support, but results vary by workload and settings.

Software and licensing: operating systems, productivity software, and games may require separate licences. Unless explicitly included in the written quote, software licences are not included. If we install software at your request, you confirm you have the right to use the licence and that installation does not violate the software vendor’s terms.

6. User obligations and prohibited activities

You agree to use the site lawfully and in a way that does not harm our business, staff, customers, or systems. You are responsible for ensuring that any information you submit is accurate and does not infringe third-party rights.

Prohibited activities include

  • Scraping, harvesting, or systematically copying content, product data, or pricing using automated tools without our written permission.
  • Attempting to bypass access controls, probe vulnerabilities, or interfere with the site’s availability, including denial-of-service attacks.
  • Impersonating another person or organisation, misrepresenting your affiliation, or submitting misleading contact information.
  • Uploading or transmitting malware, harmful code, or any content that could damage systems, compromise security, or violate privacy.
  • Sending spam, unsolicited marketing, or repeated messages that unreasonably burden our support channels.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to derive source code from any site functionality beyond what is permitted by law.

We reserve the right to restrict access to the site for behaviour that violates these terms or that creates security or operational risks.

7. Intellectual property

The website, including text, design, logos, page layout, icons, and code, is owned by or licensed to Northbridge Computers and is protected by intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to access and use the site for your personal or internal business evaluation purposes.

You may not reproduce, distribute, publicly display, sell, or create derivative works from our content without our written permission, except where permitted by law. Product names and trademarks of third parties belong to their respective owners and are used for identification purposes only.

8. Disclaimer of warranties

The site and our online content are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. We do not warrant that the website will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We also do not warrant that product descriptions, compatibility notes, or guidance materials will always be complete or current, although we work to keep them accurate.

Any warranties for hardware or services are described in the specific warranty terms provided at purchase, on your invoice, or in the service documentation. Nothing in these terms limits any statutory rights you may have under applicable consumer protection law.

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Northbridge Computers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill arising out of or related to your use of the site, communications with us, or any products or services referenced on the site.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for direct damages is capped at the amount you paid to Northbridge Computers for the relevant product or service in the 12 months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or €100 (or the equivalent in local currency), whichever is lower.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or any liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Northbridge Computers, its employees, and contractors from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your breach of these terms, misuse of the site, or violation of any law or third-party rights.

11. Third-party links and services

Our pages may reference third-party services that support our operations, such as payment processors, financing providers, analytics, or email delivery tools. Where we link to a third-party site, that site is governed by its own terms and privacy practices. We do not control third-party content and are not responsible for losses arising from your use of third-party websites or services.

12. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Privacy Policy is incorporated into these terms by reference. If you do not agree with our privacy practices, do not use the site or submit forms.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of London, England, will have exclusive jurisdiction to resolve disputes arising out of or relating to these terms or your use of the site, subject to any mandatory legal rights that apply to consumers.

Informal resolution: before filing a claim, you agree to contact us and provide a concise written description of the issue and the relief you seek. We will attempt to resolve the dispute informally within 30 days of receiving your notice. You can reach us using the contact details in section 16 below.

14. Termination

We may suspend or terminate your access to the site (including blocking requests from specific IP addresses or accounts, if applicable) if we reasonably believe you have violated these terms, attempted to compromise security, or used the site in a manner that disrupts operations. Termination may occur with or without notice depending on the severity and urgency of the risk.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, Governing Law, and Dispute Resolution.

15. Modifications to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time to reflect operational, legal, or security changes. Updates will be posted on this page and will become effective 14 days after posting, unless a change must take effect sooner for legal or security reasons. Your continued use of the site after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
